Nose tip treatment at SONÜ

Nose tip lift Botox in Hale, Altrincham

A subtle lift for a nose tip that dips when you smile, helping it look less downturned in photographs and conversation.

You like your smile. You're less keen on what happens to the end of your nose when you use it. Perhaps the tip dips down in photographs, or your nose looks more hooked when you're laughing than it does with your face relaxed.

Nose tip Botox can reduce that downward pull, so the tip stays a little higher when you smile. The change is small, but it can soften the downturned look that catches your eye. Dr Alex will look at how your nose and upper lip move together and explain what improvement is possible.

What you have noticed

Does your nose tip dip with your smile?

The movement can be more noticeable than the shape of your nose at rest.

It looks different when you smile

Your nose looks fine with your face relaxed, but the tip pulls down when you smile broadly. You'd like less of that dip without having to tone down the smile itself.

You notice it in side-on photographs

The tip can make your profile look more downturned in a laughing photograph than you expected. You're interested in a subtle change to that movement.

You want to keep your own nose

You aren't looking for a completely different shape. You'd like to find out whether the small change bothering you is something Botox could help with.

The result

A smile with less of a downward dip

The aim is for your nose tip to look a little less hooked or droopy when your face is animated.

Botox relaxes the pull on the tip rather than changing the nose's structure. Where that pull is responsible, the improvement is usually easiest to see when you compare a full smile before and after treatment.

A permanently low tip may need a different approach. Dr Alex will explain where he expects the change to show on your face, rather than treating movement and fixed shape as the same problem.

Could it suit you?

It depends on what pulls the tip down

The starting point is the difference between your nose at rest and in movement.

The tip moves down with a smile
A visible downward movement can suggest that muscle activity contributes. This is the type of change nose tip Botox is intended to address.
You are comfortable with a small change
You're hoping for a little less drooping, rather than a new nose shape. Dr Alex can show you which part of your concern treatment could reasonably improve.
You are weighing up the options
You may have heard about nose filler or surgery. You don't need to choose between them before the consultation; they do different jobs.

What it can change

A little lift, rather than a new shape

Botox won't remove a hump, narrow the bridge or make the nose smaller. If the tip stays low because of its cartilage and support, relaxing a muscle may make little difference. Structural changes need a separate assessment.

How it works

Relaxing the muscle that pulls the tip down

A small muscle beneath the nose can draw the tip down when you smile.

It is called the depressor septi nasi. Botox temporarily reduces its activity, allowing less downward movement of the tip.

The upper lip moves nearby, so the treatment needs to account for your smile as a whole. There is no filler involved and no change to the underlying bone or cartilage.

Your appointment

Show Dr Alex what happens when you smile

A photograph can help explain what you've noticed, but seeing the movement in person helps establish whether Botox is suitable.

Consultation

Talk through the change you want

You'll discuss your concerns, medical history and any previous nose surgery, filler or toxin treatment.
Assessment

Look at your nose and smile together

Dr Alex will compare the tip at rest and during expression, including how your upper lip moves. He will explain the likely size of the change.
Treatment

A small, targeted injection treatment

If you decide to proceed, Botox is injected into the relevant muscle. You'll feel a brief sting; the injection part is short.
Afterwards

Let the result develop

You'll receive aftercare instructions. Give the treatment around two weeks to develop, and contact the clinic with any questions about the result.

Safety

What should you know before treatment?

The main area-specific consideration is the effect on nearby upper-lip movement.

Possible side effects

You may have temporary redness, tenderness or bruising at the injection site. If nearby muscles are affected, the upper lip or smile can move differently or look uneven. These effects usually improve as the toxin wears off, but can take time.

Tell Dr Alex about previous treatment or surgery around your nose and any existing difficulties with lip movement.

When to seek urgent help

Seek urgent medical help for difficulty swallowing or speaking, widespread weakness, or signs of a serious allergic reaction. Call 999 for breathing difficulty or swelling of the tongue or throat.

When treatment may not be suitable

Treatment is generally deferred during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with an infection at the injection site. A previous serious reaction to botulinum toxin, certain nerve or muscle conditions and some medicines can affect suitability. Dr Alex will review your medical history.

You can ask questions and take time to decide.

Your questions

Questions about nose tip Botox

From how much it can lift to how it differs from nose filler.

Can Botox lift a drooping nose tip?
It can give a subtle lift when muscle activity pulls the tip down, particularly with smiling. It cannot correct every low or drooping tip. Dr Alex will assess how much of the change comes from movement.
Will it make my nose smaller?
No. It changes muscle pull, not the size of the nose. A tip that dips less may look less downturned in profile, but the bone and cartilage stay the same.
Is this the same as a non-surgical nose job?
No. That term often refers to filler used to alter the nose's contours. Nose tip Botox reduces a downward muscle pull. Filler, toxin and surgery have different uses and risks.
How much lift should I expect?
Usually a subtle change. There isn't a reliable millimetre promise that applies to every nose. The consultation will focus on the movement you have and whether reducing it is likely to give a change you'll notice.
How long does nose tip Botox take to work?
Allow around two weeks to judge the result. It develops gradually, so the appearance immediately after the injection doesn't show the final effect.
How long will the result last?
Dr Alex generally advises around 3-4 months for cosmetic toxin results. The downward movement gradually returns as the effect wears off; repeat treatment can be considered if you liked the change.
Could it change my smile?
It can affect nearby upper-lip movement, which is why your smile is assessed before treatment. An unwanted change or asymmetry is possible. Dr Alex will explain that risk in relation to your anatomy.
Does a nose tip injection hurt?
There is a brief sting and the area can feel tender afterwards. Tell Dr Alex if you're particularly worried about injections so comfort can be discussed before treatment begins.
Can I have it if I have had nose filler or surgery?
Possibly, but Dr Alex needs to know what you had and when. Previous procedures can change the anatomy and the options. Bring any details you have rather than assuming the same treatment will suit you.
Can I go back to work afterwards?
Usually. There can be a small injection mark or bruise, but most people return to ordinary activities. You'll receive specific aftercare advice, including any temporary exercise restrictions.
