A consultation with Dr Alex, with EMSCULPT, ONDA and Core2Floor options to suit your goals.
What you might be noticing
What would you like to change?
A six-pack isn't everyone's goal. Looking a little firmer, feeling stronger or getting more out of exercise can be just as worthwhile.
At a glance
The practical details
A course of short appointments, with muscle changes developing over the following weeks.
The change to look for
Firmer abs and a stronger core
EMSCULPT works on the muscle itself, helping build stronger, firmer abs as well as improving the shape of your stomach.
Your abdominal muscles help support your trunk during everyday movement and exercise. That makes core strength a useful goal in its own right, whether you're returning to training or working towards better control in a Pilates class.
If your pelvic floor needs attention too, SONÜ offers Core2Floor: abdominal EMSCULPT combined in a course with EMSELLA for the pelvic floor. It is an option to discuss if a weaker middle comes with little leaks when you cough, laugh or exercise.

Is it right for you?
When muscle tone is the missing piece
Dr Alex looks at the muscle, fat and skin before recommending a course.
When another approach may help more
A fold of loose skin needs a different plan
EMSCULPT won't remove hanging skin or a large amount of fat. A new bulge, pain or suspected hernia needs medical assessment first. Dr Alex will explain whether muscle treatment is likely to make enough difference or whether another option is more suitable.
How it works
Around 20,000 contractions while you lie down
EMSCULPT uses focused electromagnetic energy to stimulate the abdominal muscles through an applicator on your stomach. A 30-minute session produces approximately 20,000 contractions.
These are known as supramaximal contractions: intense muscle contractions triggered by the device, beyond what you can deliberately produce during ordinary exercise. Repeating them gives the muscles a powerful stimulus to develop.
You can relax on the treatment couch while your abs do this part.
Your appointment
From assessment to a course that fits your diary
The consultation comes first, so you know what the treatment can usefully change.

Why Dr Alex
A plan for what you want to see and feel
Dr Alex is a medical doctor and the founder of SONÜ. He looks at your muscle tone, fat and skin, but also asks what you want to get back to: feeling stronger in a class, being more comfortable in swimwear or addressing changes after pregnancy.
He can recommend EMSCULPT for the muscles, add ONDA when local fat or skin firmness also needs attention, or discuss Core2Floor if pelvic floor symptoms are part of the picture. That choice of treatments lets him build a plan around your concerns, with a clear explanation of what each part is intended to change.

Safety and aftercare
An intense muscle session, with little interruption afterwards
Your abs may feel tired, tender or a little stiff, rather like they do after exercise. Temporary muscle cramps can occur.
Possible side effects
The contractions should be tolerable. Tell the practitioner straight away if you feel sharp pain or discomfort that is too strong, so treatment can be adjusted or stopped. Follow the advice you receive about exercise between sessions.
When to get urgent help
Contact the clinic promptly for severe or increasing pain, marked swelling, new weakness or numbness. If you cannot reach the clinic, seek advice through NHS 111. Severe abdominal pain with vomiting or a new painful bulge needs urgent medical assessment.
When treatment may not be suitable
Tell Dr Alex about pregnancy, breastfeeding, recent childbirth, a hernia, abdominal surgery, active illness, muscle or nerve conditions and any implanted device or metal. Pacemakers and other electronic or metal implants can prevent safe treatment. Pregnancy is not a time for cosmetic abdominal muscle treatment.
You will receive aftercare advice and a contact route for concerns between sessions.
Treatment costs
EMSCULPT abdomen prices
EMSCULPT is £185 per session for one agreed treatment area. A four-session package is £600, and a six-session package is £850.
