Needle-free body contouring

ONDA Coolwaves fat reduction in Hale, Altrincham

Tackle stubborn tummy fat, love handles and other local bulges with a treatment that can also firm the skin, without needles or surgery.

Sometimes it's one part of your body that won't quite play ball. Your clothes fit everywhere else, but there's that bit over the waistband, or the bulge your bra seems determined to point out.

ONDA Coolwaves treats pockets of fat from outside the skin, using microwave energy to reduce fat and encourage collagen renewal. That means it can help with both the bulge and mild skin looseness around it. Built-in cooling keeps the skin comfortable, and you can usually carry on with your day straight afterwards.

What would you like to change?

The bit your clothes keep catching on

You don't necessarily want to be smaller everywhere. You might simply want a particular area to sit a little better in the clothes you already like.

The roll above your waistband

Jeans fit your legs nicely, but there's still a pocket at your lower tummy or sides. You'd like a smoother shape there without having to change the rest of your body.

A bulge around your bra line

You put on a fitted top and notice a fold where your bra sits. It's the shape under your clothes that bothers you, rather than a number on the scales.

A softer shape than you would like

A local pocket of fat and slightly loose skin can come together, especially after your weight has changed. You'd like the area to look firmer as well as a little slimmer.

The change to look for

A smoother shape under your clothes

The aim is less of the pocket you can pinch, so the area looks slimmer and clothes sit more comfortably over it.

ONDA can also improve mild skin looseness by stimulating collagen, the support protein that helps keep skin firm. This is useful when simply reducing fat would only address part of what bothers you.

Changes develop gradually across the course and afterwards. Photographs taken in the same position and clothing are more useful than checking the mirror every morning. The scales may barely change even when the treated area looks different.

Is it right for you?

When ONDA is a good match

The amount of fat, the firmness of your skin and the size of the change you want all help determine whether ONDA is worthwhile.

You have a local pocket to treat
ONDA is best considered for fat just beneath the skin in a defined area. It can be an option when you're broadly happy with your weight but want to improve a particular bulge.
You want to avoid injections
The treatment is delivered through the skin, with no needles or cuts. It suits people looking for a practical body-contouring option without booking recovery days away from work.
You are happy with gradual results
Results build across a course, so it is worth planning ahead if you have a holiday or an event in mind. ONDA suits a gradual change rather than a dramatic difference next week.

The right tool for the job

Fat, loose skin or something underneath?

A tummy can protrude because of fat beneath the skin, deeper abdominal fat, loose skin or muscle separation. ONDA won't address all of these. Dr Alex will assess what is contributing before recommending treatment; substantial excess skin or a much larger reduction may need a surgical opinion.

How it works

Targeted warmth, with cooling at the skin

ONDA Coolwaves uses controlled microwave energy to heat fat beneath the skin while its handpiece cools the surface.

The treatment disrupts fat cells in the selected area, which the body then clears gradually. The heat also encourages collagen remodelling, helping mildly loose skin feel firmer.

The settings and treatment depth are chosen for the area and the aim. Treating a fat pocket is a different job from working on cellulite or thin, loose skin, even though the same ONDA system can be used.

Your appointment

What happens when you come in

You'll know what is being treated, how the course is planned and what it will cost before you begin.

Consultation

Look at the area together

Dr Alex examines the area, checks your medical history and discusses the change you want. Bring up any previous surgery, implants or changes in sensation, as these affect the treatment plan.
Before treatment

Agree the coverage

The area is marked out and photographed, and the planned settings are checked. A larger tummy or treating both sides may need more than one treatment area; the quote should reflect the actual coverage.
During your session

The handpiece moves over your skin

You'll feel warmth and the movement of the cooled handpiece. Your practitioner checks your comfort throughout. Tell them straight away if a spot feels too hot; you don't need to endure it for a better result.
Afterwards

Back to your day

You can usually go back to normal daily activities. You'll receive aftercare advice and a plan for further sessions, with time allowed to assess the developing result before deciding whether you need more.

Why Dr Alex

A choice of treatments for a better fit

Dr Alex offers ONDA alongside EMSCULPT and fat-dissolving injections at SONÜ. That gives him different ways to approach an area: reducing a pocket of fat, building muscle beneath it, or addressing both when that makes sense.

For ONDA, his assessment includes how much of the concern is fat, how well the skin is likely to respond and whether the proposed coverage matches your goal. You can discuss the whole area, rather than trying to decide which machine to book before anyone has examined it.

Safety and recovery

Comfortable treatment still needs careful planning

Most people can carry on with their day. Temporary redness, warmth, tenderness or swelling can occur in the treated area.

Possible side effects

Bruising, altered sensation or firm lumps beneath the skin can also occur. Lumps may take weeks or months to settle and can occasionally persist. Burns, blistering and lasting skin changes are possible, so suitable settings, cooling and your feedback during treatment are important.

When to get urgent help

Contact the clinic promptly for worsening pain, blistering, marked skin colour changes or increasing swelling. Spreading redness with fever or feeling unwell needs urgent medical assessment; use NHS 111 if you cannot reach the clinic.

When ONDA may not be suitable

Treatment is avoided during pregnancy or breastfeeding and with certain implanted electronic devices. Active skin problems, impaired sensation, hernias, metal implants in the area and significant medical conditions need assessment. Tell Dr Alex about medicines, previous surgery and any heart, circulation, liver or kidney problems.

Your medical history and the treatment area are checked before a course is recommended.

Your questions

A few things worth knowing before you book

From comfort to course planning, these are the practical differences that help you choose.

Does ONDA Coolwaves hurt?
It usually feels warm, with the cooled handpiece moving over your skin. Most people find it comfortable. Heat can feel stronger in some spots, so keep talking to your practitioner and tell them if it becomes uncomfortable.
Which areas can you treat?
Common body areas include the tummy, love handles, outer thighs, upper arms and suitable fat at the bra line. The amount of pinchable fat and the structures beneath it matter, so Dr Alex will check the exact patch you want treated.
How many sessions will I need?
Several sessions are usually needed. Four treatments spaced around a month apart are a common starting point, but the number depends on the area and your response. A course gives the result time to build; a six-session package is an option where a longer course is appropriate.
When will I see the final result?
Look for gradual changes over the weeks between treatments, with further improvement possible in the months after the course. A holiday or wedding is worth mentioning at consultation so the timing can be planned properly. It isn't an instant inch-loss treatment.
Is the fat reduction permanent?
Fat cells destroyed by treatment are cleared by the body, so the reduction can be long lasting. Your shape can still change if the remaining fat cells enlarge with weight gain, and skin continues to age. Keeping your weight reasonably stable helps maintain the result.
Is ONDA the same as fat freezing?
No. Fat freezing uses cold to damage fat cells; ONDA uses controlled microwave heating with cooling at the skin surface. ONDA can also address mild skin looseness and cellulite. The best choice depends on your tissue and the result you want, rather than one being right for everyone.
Can ONDA help me lose weight?
ONDA is intended to reshape selected areas of fat beneath the skin. It won't treat the deeper fat around your organs or produce substantial overall weight loss. If your main goal is to lose weight, a body-contouring course is unlikely to be the best use of your money.
Can I combine ONDA with EMSCULPT?
Yes, where both would help. ONDA targets fat and skin, while EMSCULPT works the muscles underneath. For example, a plan for the abdomen may combine local fat reduction with building the abdominal muscles. Dr Alex can advise whether you need both and how to arrange the sessions.
Will the skin be left loose afterwards?
ONDA can stimulate collagen and improve mild looseness as it treats the fat. That is part of its appeal, but it cannot remove a large fold of excess skin. Dr Alex will check skin quality before recommending how much fat reduction to aim for.
How long should I allow for an appointment?
Our routine ONDA bookings allow 30 minutes for one area or 45 minutes for two. A first consultation is a separate part of the planning process, and larger treatment plans may need longer. We will confirm the time to allow when you book.
