i
A private consultation with Dr Alex and a plan for your symptoms, whether they began after childbirth, around menopause or at another stage of life.
What you might be noticing
When your bladder starts having a say in your plans
Leaks are common, but you can ask for help before they become something you organise your life around.
At a glance
A short appointment, fully clothed
Treatment happens on a chair, with no needles, internal probe or recovery days to arrange.
The difference to look for
Less leakage, less planning around it
The aim is better bladder control through stronger, better-functioning pelvic floor muscles.
Progress might mean fewer leaks during a fitness class, less need for pads or being more comfortable laughing with friends. Those everyday changes are useful ways to judge whether treatment is helping.
If sudden urgency is the main problem, Dr Alex will discuss the wider plan too, including bladder training or other treatment when needed.

Is it right for you?
Start with the symptoms you want to change
EMSELLA can help suitable women with urinary incontinence, including stress, urgency or mixed symptoms.
When strengthening is not the right starting point
A painful or overactive pelvic floor needs different care
Muscles that are too tense can also cause pelvic symptoms. If you have pelvic pain, painful sex, difficulty emptying your bladder or a feeling of a vaginal bulge, mention it before booking treatment. Physiotherapy or further medical assessment may be more useful than adding stronger contractions.
How it works
A pelvic floor workout while you sit
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles at the base of your pelvis that helps support the bladder and control leakage.
EMSELLA uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy, or HIFEM, to produce thousands of strong pelvic floor contractions during a session. You stay dressed while the chair stimulates the muscles.
A course provides repeated stimulation to improve muscle function. You do not need to perform the contractions yourself during treatment, and the practitioner adjusts the intensity to your comfort.
Your appointment
A straightforward visit for a personal concern
You can describe what is happening in your own words. There's no need to arrive knowing the medical name for it.

Why Dr Alex
A medical assessment of what is causing the leaks
Dr Alex approaches bladder symptoms as a medical concern, not something you should feel awkward about mentioning. He asks about the pattern of leakage, pain, urgency and your health to judge whether pelvic floor strengthening is appropriate.
At SONÜ, he can also discuss Core2Floor if abdominal weakness is part of your concern. Where symptoms need pelvic-health physiotherapy, a GP review or specialist assessment, he will explain that rather than automatically recommend a chair treatment.

Safety and aftercare
Strong stimulation, with no routine recovery time
Tingling and pelvic floor contractions are expected during treatment. Some people notice temporary muscle aching or tiredness afterwards.
Possible side effects
The sensation should be tolerable. Tell the practitioner if it becomes painful so the intensity can be adjusted or treatment stopped. Contact the clinic if discomfort persists or your urinary symptoms worsen.
When to get urgent help
Seek urgent medical help if you suddenly cannot pass urine or develop severe pelvic pain. Blood in your urine or urinary symptoms with fever need prompt medical advice through your GP or NHS 111. Do not wait for a treatment appointment to have these symptoms checked.
When treatment may not be suitable
Tell Dr Alex about pregnancy, breastfeeding, recent childbirth or pelvic surgery, a pacemaker, electronic or metal implants, an intrauterine coil and any significant medical condition. Pregnancy and electronic or metal implants can prevent treatment. A coil needs checking by type. Active infection, unexplained bleeding or pelvic pain should be assessed first.
The team will explain what to expect and how to contact the clinic with concerns.
Treatment costs
EMSELLA treatment prices
An EMSELLA session costs £150. A package of six sessions is £500.
