Skin that looks fresher and feels more supple
Profhilo in Hale, Altrincham
Often called an 'injectable moisturiser', Profhilo deeply hydrates skin and encourages your own collagen and elastin, helping it look fresher and feel firmer. It isn't a dermal filler.

What you've noticed
When your skin doesn't look quite as fresh
You may notice a change in how your skin feels, how it catches the light or how fine lines show through make-up.
The practical details
Profhilo at a glance
The usual starting course is two treatments about a month apart, with time afterwards to assess the improvement.
The change you can see
Smoother-looking skin, with a bit more bounce
Profhilo aims to improve the skin across an area, rather than filling each individual line.
The improvement can show as skin that feels less dry and looks smoother, with fine crinkling less obvious. It may also feel more supple when you touch it. These changes build gradually, so judge the course rather than the first few days.
On the neck, the aim is to improve the skin's texture and firmness. A deep horizontal line may still be visible even when the skin around it looks better.
Profhilo won't give you new cheekbones or relax a frown. If those are the changes you want, Dr Alex will explain the treatments that address them more directly.

Would this suit you?
Is it the skin you'd like to improve?
Profhilo is most relevant when hydration, fine crinkling and a loss of skin elasticity are the main concerns.
When another approach may help more
Loose skin and lost volume need their own assessment
Profhilo can improve skin quality, but it won't remove excess skin or reliably lift established jowls. A hollow cheek needs a different discussion from a cheek with fine surface wrinkles.
Dr Alex may suggest filler for a loss of shape, or a skin treatment such as laser for a different texture concern. You don't have to work out which one you need before coming in.
How it works
Hydration now, with firmer skin developing over time
Hyaluronic acid holds onto water. Collagen gives skin strength, while elastin helps it spring back.
Profhilo delivers hyaluronic acid beneath the skin, where it spreads to improve hydration. It also stimulates the skin's own production of collagen and elastin, helping it become smoother, firmer and more supple over the following weeks.
That's why the result is more than the temporary softness you get from applying a moisturiser. You're working on the quality of the skin itself. Keep up your usual skincare and sun protection too.
Although both Profhilo and many fillers contain hyaluronic acid, they're formulated differently and do different jobs. Filler can add volume or shape a feature; Profhilo helps the skin look and feel better without sculpting your face.

Why Dr Alex
Why choose Dr Alex for Profhilo?
Dr Alex has used Profhilo extensively, has been a trainer for the treatment and helped launch Profhilo Body. He has presented on Profhilo and Profhilo Structura at CCR on behalf of IBSA.
When you show him a line, he'll look at the skin around it too. A crease caused by movement, a hollow and fine crinkling can all be described as 'looking older', but treating them in the same way makes little sense.
He'll explain what Profhilo could improve and what it would leave alone. If the thing bothering you most is unlikely to change, he'd rather tell you before you've booked a course.

What to expect after Profhilo
Small bumps at the injection sites, redness, tenderness, swelling and bruising can occur. Allow for these when planning treatment.
Possible side effects
The raised bumps usually settle over the first day or two; bruising can last longer. Persistent lumps, infection and inflammatory or allergic reactions are also possible and need assessment.
An uncommon but serious injection risk is blockage of a blood vessel, which can damage skin. With facial injections, very rare complications can affect vision or cause a stroke. Dr Alex will explain the risks before you decide.
When to get urgent help
Contact SONÜ immediately if you develop unusual or increasing pain, pale skin, or a dusky or mottled colour around the treated area. Don't wait for a routine review. If you can't reach the clinic, seek urgent medical care.
Any change in vision, sudden weakness or difficulty speaking needs emergency medical help. Call 999 and tell them you've recently had hyaluronic acid injections.
When treatment should wait
Profhilo is not used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an allergy to its ingredients, or in infected or inflamed skin. The manufacturer also advises against treatment in people with autoimmune disease.
Tell Dr Alex about your medical conditions, medicines and other procedures. Laser resurfacing and medium or deep peels must not be carried out alongside Profhilo; the timing needs to be planned separately.
You can take time to think about the recommendation before deciding.
Treatment costs
How much does Profhilo cost?
One face or neck treatment costs £350. Two treatments cost £650.
