For skin that looks thirsty

Mesotherapy for hydrated, glowing skin in Hale, Altrincham

Tiny injections of hydrating ingredients can help tired, dry-looking skin feel softer and look fresher, with a dewier finish and less obvious fine creasing.

You're using moisturiser, but your skin still looks a bit dull. Makeup catches on the dry-looking patches, and the fine lines seem more obvious than they used to. You'd like that fresh, well-hydrated look back.

Mesotherapy places small amounts of a skin-boosting solution just beneath the surface. Hyaluronic-acid-based treatments help the skin hold water, improving hydration and the appearance of fine lines. The aim is better-looking skin, without adding the volume used to shape cheeks or lips.

What you might notice

When moisturiser is only getting you so far

Sometimes it's the condition of your skin that bothers you more than any one line or feature.

Your skin looks dry under makeup

Foundation seems to catch on fine creases, or your cheeks look less smooth by the afternoon. You'd like your skin to feel softer and hold its hydration better.

The usual glow has gone missing

Your complexion looks flat or tired despite your skincare routine. You're after a fresher look that comes from improving the skin itself.

You want a skin change, not a shape change

You're happy with your features. It's the fine creasing and dullness you'd like to improve, without making your face look fuller.

At a glance

A skin boost with a little recovery to plan for

Mesotherapy involves small injections, so allow time for the injection marks to settle.

The result

Softer skin with a little more life to it

The aim is well-hydrated skin that looks smoother, catches the light more evenly and feels less dry.

Fine creasing associated with dehydration may become less obvious, and makeup can sit more smoothly as the skin improves. It is a subtle change in the quality of the skin rather than a new facial contour.

Let any initial swelling settle before judging the result. Hydration and superficial-line improvements develop through the course, and maintenance can help sustain them. Dr Alex will review your response and discuss when another session is worth considering.

Is it right for you?

When hydration is the change you want

Mesotherapy is worth considering if dullness and fine creasing are your main concerns, and you're comfortable with a treatment delivered through small injections.

Your skincare needs some support
You're consistent with skincare but would like more improvement in hydration and softness. Dr Alex can check whether an injectable treatment is likely to add something useful.
You want to freshen the skin
You're looking for a more rested, dewy appearance rather than a dramatic lift. A skin-focused course may suit that goal.
You can plan around the marks
A few small bumps or bruises are manageable, and you can avoid booking immediately before photographs or an important occasion.

Choosing your treatment

First, work out why the skin looks dry

Dryness caused by irritation or eczema needs appropriate skin care or medical treatment first. Deep folds, significant sagging and indented scars usually need a different approach. Dr Alex will distinguish a hydration problem from a structural one before recommending injections.

How it works

Hydration placed within the skin

Mesotherapy describes a method of delivering small amounts of a solution through multiple shallow injections. The formulation is selected for the skin concern.

For skin hydration, hyaluronic acid helps attract and hold water. Some formulations also contain ingredients such as amino acids or vitamins. Dr Alex explains the actual product and what it is intended to improve before treatment.

This is different from smoothing a serum onto the surface, and different from microneedling, which works mainly by stimulating a repair response. Mesotherapy for hydration does not aim to build the projection or contour associated with volumising filler.

Your appointment

What happens at a mesotherapy appointment

Your appointment is booked for 60 minutes, giving time to assess the skin, prepare and carry out treatment.

Consultation

Discuss what your skin needs

Tell Dr Alex what feels dry, looks dull or catches your eye under makeup. He'll review your skincare, allergies, medicines and recent treatments, then explain the proposed product.
Before treatment

Prepare the area

The skin is cleansed, the areas are agreed and comfort options are discussed. Numbing cream may be used where appropriate.
During treatment

Place small amounts into the skin

Dr Alex gives a series of small, shallow injections across the agreed area. You may feel brief pinpricks or stinging. Small raised bumps can be visible immediately afterwards.
Afterwards

Let the injection points settle

You'll receive advice about skincare, touching the area, makeup and exercise. The next appointment is planned around the product and your response, with time to assess the improvement.

Why Dr Alex

Choose the right injectable for the result you want

Dr Alex teaches medical professionals in injectable treatments, including dermal fillers and polynucleotides, and offers a range of treatments for skin hydration and texture. His assessment starts with the change you want to see.

With mesotherapy, that means being clear about the product, the likely improvement and whether hydration is really the problem. He can compare it with other skin boosters or suggest a different approach if the concern is laxity, scarring or irritation. You should understand why a particular treatment has been recommended before deciding to have it.

Safety and aftercare

Allow the skin a few days to settle

Small bumps, tenderness, redness and swelling can follow the injections. Bruising is also possible and may last longer than the initial marks.

Possible side effects

Follow the aftercare for the product used, including when to restart makeup, exercise and active skincare. Avoid rubbing or massaging the area unless advised. Don't arrange your first session immediately before an important event.

Less common problems include infection, allergy, prolonged swelling, nodules and pigment changes. Risks depend partly on the formulation, so the product-specific discussion is part of your appointment.

When to get urgent help

Contact the clinic urgently for severe or increasing pain, pale or dusky skin, spreading redness, fever or worsening swelling. Any sudden visual change needs emergency assessment. Breathing difficulty or swelling of the tongue or throat requires 999.

When treatment needs to wait

Treatment is postponed for infection, a cold sore or inflamed skin in the area, and during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Allergies, bleeding problems, blood-thinning medicines and previous injectable reactions need review. Do not stop prescribed medication yourself. A new or changing lesion needs assessment by your GP or dermatologist; SONÜ does not diagnose skin lesions.

You can ask about the product, take time to think or choose not to proceed.

Your questions

More about mesotherapy

What is injected, how it feels and the kind of result to expect.

What is actually injected?
That depends on the formulation selected for your skin. Hydrating mesotherapy often uses hyaluronic acid, sometimes alongside ingredients such as amino acids or vitamins. Dr Alex will show you the proposed product and explain its ingredients and purpose. Mesotherapy is a treatment method, so the name alone doesn't tell you what's in the syringe.
Is it the same as filler?
Hydrating mesotherapy and volumising fillers can both contain hyaluronic acid, but their formulations and aims differ. Mesotherapy places small amounts through the skin to improve hydration and superficial texture. It is not intended to add cheek projection, reshape the lips or replace lost facial volume.
How is it different from microneedling?
Microneedling creates tiny channels to stimulate the skin's repair response. Injectable mesotherapy deposits a chosen solution into the skin. Both can be discussed for skin quality, but the procedure and aftercare are different. Dr Alex can help you choose according to whether hydration, scarring or texture is the main issue.
Will it help my fine lines?
It can soften superficial lines associated with dehydrated-looking skin. Deep folds, marked sun damage and lines caused mainly by muscle movement need a different plan. The aim is smoother, better-hydrated skin rather than removing every line.
Does it hurt?
You can expect a series of small pinpricks and some brief stinging. Numbing cream may help, depending on the area and product. Tell Dr Alex if you're worried about needles or have found previous treatments uncomfortable so he can talk through the options.
Will I have bumps or bruises afterwards?
Small bumps can be visible at the injection points and usually settle over the following days. Bruises can take longer to fade. You can generally carry on with ordinary activities, but leave a sensible buffer before an event and follow the advice on makeup, exercise and skincare.
How many sessions will I need?
Many hydration treatments are given as an initial course, followed by maintenance when needed. The exact schedule depends on the product and your skin. Dr Alex will explain the recommended number and spacing before you start, then review the response.
How long will the results last?
Think in terms of gradual improvement and maintenance rather than a permanent change. The duration depends on the formulation, treatment course, your skin and sun exposure. Dr Alex will give you a product-specific expectation once the plan is agreed, rather than applying the same lifespan to every mesotherapy treatment.
Can it be used on the neck, chest or hands?
Hydrating mesotherapy can be considered for areas beyond the face, depending on the product and concern. Mention the area when enquiring so Dr Alex can confirm whether it is suitable and explain the fee. More pronounced crepiness or loose skin may need a broader plan.
How do I choose between mesotherapy, Profhilo and polynucleotides?
Start with what bothers you rather than a product name. Hydration, fine creasing, firmness and scarring can lead to different recommendations. Dr Alex can explain what each option is intended to do, how it is delivered and the likely course, then help you decide which best matches your skin.
