Smoother skin. A fresher glow.

Glass Skin treatment in Hale, Altrincham

Glass Skin at SONÜ combines a gentle, no-downtime chemical peel with IPL to brighten uneven skin tone and smooth the skin's surface. No needles, just a treatment plan for skin that looks fresher and feels softer.

When your skin feels a bit rough and looks a bit dull, adding another brightening serum isn't always the answer. This combination works on the surface and patchy colour, helping your skin look clearer and catch the light more evenly. It's a lovely option to explore when you want that good-skin-day feeling more often.

What brings you here?

When you'd like your skin to have a bit more life

You might have a special occasion in mind, or simply want to feel happier with your skin on days when you don't wear makeup.

Makeup catches instead of gliding on

Foundation seems to sit on little rough patches, and adding more doesn't help. You'd like a smoother-feeling surface to work with.

The glow has gone missing

Your skin looks flat even when it feels reasonably well moisturised. A fresher, brighter finish is the change you're after.

Dullness and patchy colour together

It's a mixture: a few brown marks, some redness and skin that feels less smooth. A combination may make more sense than treating just one part of it.

What could change?

Skin that looks good before the makeup goes on

Think a softer feel, a brighter appearance and a more even-looking finish.

The peel refreshes the surface, while IPL works on suitable red and brown colour beneath it. Together, the aim is to improve the things that can leave your skin looking dull or patchy. You may find makeup sits more smoothly, or that you're happier reaching for a lighter base.

Is it for you?

A good match for a mix of tone and texture concerns

Glass Skin is worth exploring when you want a visible skin refresh with little interruption to your usual routine.

Dullness with mild roughness
A gentle peel can help refresh a surface that feels uneven. When patchy colour is there too, IPL may add something useful.
An event in the diary
It can be part of preparation for a wedding, celebration or photographs. Start planning early so there's time to assess your skin and see how it responds.
Sensitive skin or deeper concerns
Active irritation, melasma, deep acne scars or pronounced wrinkles may need a different approach. The plan should match your skin, even if that means choosing another treatment.

Your skin first

You may only need one part of the combination

If your main concern is colour, IPL alone may be enough. If it's surface dullness, a peel or skincare plan may suit you. Dr Alex will explain what each part is likely to add, so you can decide whether the combination is worthwhile.

How it works

Two treatments, with different jobs

The gentle chemical peel removes dead cells from the surface to leave the skin feeling smoother. IPL uses filtered light to target suitable pigmentation and small visible blood vessels.

The combination is designed to work on the feel of the surface and the evenness of the colour. Your skin is assessed for both parts, and the team explains the treatment plan before starting. This Glass Skin treatment doesn't involve injecting a skin booster or filler.

Your appointment

Planning your Glass Skin treatment

Bring your current skincare routine and any event dates to the conversation. That helps the team plan something that fits.

Before treatment

Talk through your skin goals

Discuss what you'd like to change, previous reactions, medicines and recent sun exposure. Dr Alex will assess whether both the peel and IPL are appropriate.
Before your session

Prepare and patch test

The team will arrange the IPL patch test and explain any skincare changes needed. Avoid arriving with a fresh tan or freshly irritated skin.
At your appointment

Have your combination treatment

Your skin is cleansed and the agreed peel and IPL treatments are carried out, with protective eyewear for IPL. You may notice tingling from the peel and brief hot flicks from the light pulses.
At home

Keep aftercare simple

Follow your product and sun-protection advice, and give your skin time to settle. The team will tell you when to restart your usual skincare and review whether further treatment would be useful.

Why Dr Alex

A combination chosen for your skin

Dr Alex is a medical doctor and founder of SONÜ. He'll look at what's making your skin appear dull or uneven and explain whether a peel and IPL are likely to help. His wider skin-treatment experience allows him to discuss alternatives when deeper resurfacing, a simpler treatment or a change in skincare would better suit your goals.

Safety and aftercare

Gentle treatment still needs the right aftercare

Glass Skin is planned as a low-downtime treatment. Mild redness, warmth, sensitivity or a little dryness can occur, and IPL-treated brown marks can temporarily darken.

Possible side effects

Keep skincare gentle while your skin settles and follow the team's advice about makeup, active ingredients and daily sun protection. Less common risks include burns, prolonged irritation, infection, changes in pigmentation and scarring. Tell the team about cold sores, allergies, light sensitivity, medicines and recent treatments before starting.

When to get urgent help

Contact the clinic promptly if you develop blisters, increasing pain, spreading redness or signs of infection. Eye pain or changes in vision need urgent medical assessment. If you need advice while the clinic is closed, contact NHS 111.

When another plan is needed

Treatment may need to wait if you have sunburn, a recent tan, an infection or an active skin flare. Suitability for IPL and the peel must both be checked, particularly with darker skin or a tendency to develop pigmentation. New or changing skin lesions need your GP or a dermatologist; SONÜ doesn't provide a skin-lesion diagnosis service.

Preparation, a patch test and a plan suited to your skin come before treatment.

Your questions

Getting that fresher-skin finish

What the treatment includes, how to plan it and what 'Glass Skin' means in real life.

What is Glass Skin at SONÜ?
It's a combination of a gentle, no-downtime chemical peel and IPL. The peel refreshes the surface, while IPL targets suitable red and brown marks. The aim is smoother-feeling, brighter, more even-looking skin.
Is it the same as a facial or a skin booster?
No. This is a peel and light-based treatment combination. SONÜ's Glass Skin treatment doesn't include skin-booster or filler injections. If hydration is your main concern, Dr Alex can discuss the other options too.
Why combine a peel with IPL?
They address different parts of the picture. A peel can help with mild surface roughness and dullness; IPL works on suitable uneven colour. Combining them may be useful when you have both concerns, while some skin will only need one of the two.
Will it make my pores disappear?
No treatment removes pores, and normal skin always has some texture. The aim here is a smoother, clearer-looking finish that reflects light more evenly. If enlarged pores or acne scars are your main concern, Dr Alex can advise on treatments more specifically suited to them.
Will my face peel afterwards?
The peel used for this treatment is intended to refresh the skin without a period of heavy peeling. A little dryness or light flaking can still happen, and IPL-treated spots may look darker temporarily. Let the team know if even mild visible changes would affect your plans.
How soon before a wedding or event should I book?
Arrange the consultation well ahead of the date. That leaves time for a patch test, treatment and any temporary redness or darkened marks to settle. For a first treatment, it's better to see how your skin responds before relying on it for an important occasion.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on whether you're mainly looking for a refresh or working on more established uneven colour. Dr Alex will explain whether a single treatment or a course makes sense, and the team will confirm the timing and cost before you start.
Can I have Glass Skin if my skin is sensitive or darker?
It needs individual assessment. Both the peel and IPL must suit your skin, and the IPL part can carry more risk of pigment changes in darker skin. If you have melasma or current irritation, another approach may be preferable. A skin assessment comes first.
When can I use retinol or exfoliating acids again?
The team will explain when to stop and restart each product around your treatment. Avoid adding extra scrubs or acids while your skin settles. Tell the team about prescribed skin treatments as well as shop-bought products; don't change prescription medicines without advice.
How do I keep the glow going?
A consistent routine, moisturiser and daily sun protection help maintain your skin. The smoother feel and improvements in colour won't all last for exactly the same length of time. Further treatment can be planned around what you notice and want to improve.
