CO2 Laser Eyelift

CO2 Laser Eyelift in Hale, Altrincham

Smoother eyelids and fresher-looking eyes, with CO2 laser treatment for crinkly skin and lids that have started to look heavier.

You don't have to feel tired for your eyes to look it. A CO2 Laser Eyelift resurfaces and tightens the skin of the upper or lower lids, softening fine lines and improving mild looseness without cuts or stitches. It stimulates your own collagen as the skin heals. At SONÜ, Dr Alex uses the SmartXide CO2 laser, planning treatment for the delicate eyelid skin and the changes bothering you most.

What you might be noticing

When your eyes look tired even when you aren't

Sometimes it's a photograph. Sometimes it's trying to put on the same eye make-up you've worn for years.

Crinkles under the eyes

The skin may look finely lined or crepey even when you aren't smiling. Concealer can collect in the creases and make them seem more obvious.

Eye shadow that won't sit smoothly

You notice more little folds across the upper lids, with make-up catching in them. The skin itself feels looser than it used to.

Upper lids that look heavier

There may be less visible lid above your lashes, or your eyes look tired when you feel perfectly well. An assessment can establish how much of this comes from the skin.

The change to look for

Fewer creases, smoother lids, fresher-looking eyes

For some people, it's the crinkly skin under the eyes that makes the biggest difference. For others, it's the extra folds on the upper lids. The aim is smoother, firmer skin and eyes that look more rested.

The laser works on your own skin, encouraging it to become smoother and firmer as it heals and produces new collagen. Dr Alex will show you examples of his work and discuss what could change around your eyes, including whether the upper lids, lower lids or both would benefit.

✓

✓

Fewer fine creases where concealer collects beneath the eyes.

✓

Smoother upper-lid skin where eye shadow catches in small folds.

✓

Less hooding where mild looseness of the upper-lid skin is the cause.

✓

A firmer, less crepey appearance that continues to develop as collagen renews.

Is it right for you?

Is it the skin, or something underneath?

The most useful first step is to work out what has changed around your eyes. Loose, finely creased skin can respond well to laser; a low brow or a prominent fat bag calls for a different plan.

Fine lines and crepey skin
These are the changes the treatment is designed to address. It can be a useful option when creams aren't making enough difference to the skin's texture.
Mild upper-lid looseness
Some loose skin may tighten with treatment. Dr Alex will check the lids and brows, because a low brow or a drooping eyelid needs a different assessment.
Comfortable with recovery
Your eyes will look treated while the skin heals. It helps to have a quiet spell in the diary and time to follow the aftercare, rather than fitting treatment in just before an occasion.

Where surgery may help more

Laser doesn't remove a large fold of skin or a fat bag

If there is substantial overhanging skin or prominent under-eye fat bags, a surgical assessment may be more useful. Dr Alex will explain which option is more likely to give you the change you want.

How it works

Encouraging the eyelid skin to renew

The laser treats tiny points in the skin, stimulating repair and new collagen to improve its texture and firmness.

Small spaces of untreated skin remain between the laser points to support healing. Eyelid skin is delicate, so the treatment is adjusted specifically for this area. There are no incisions or stitches: the effect comes from resurfacing and tightening the skin as it recovers.

Your appointment

What happens at a Laser Eyelift appointment?

Dr Alex will explain each part beforehand, including the eye shields. You don't need to arrive already knowing how any of it works.

Consultation

Examine the eye area

He'll look at the eyelid skin, lid position and the concern you want to improve. Tell him about dry eyes, eye conditions, contact lenses, previous eye or eyelid surgery, medication and any problems with healing.
Before the laser

Numb and protect

Strong numbing cream is used, usually for around 30 minutes. Anaesthetic eye drops help with inserting internal metal shields, rather like protective metal contact lenses. These protect the eyes during treatment; Dr Alex will explain any additional anaesthetic needed.
Laser treatment

Treat the eyelid skin

The laser is passed over the agreed areas with the shields in place. You may feel warmth or stinging despite numbing. The treated skin can feel sunburned afterwards, and swelling is expected during early recovery.
The following days

Allow time for healing

Dr Alex commonly sees around two days of swelling, followed by a longer period of redness and surface healing. Allow around a week of social downtime, with some people needing longer. Your eyes will look treated during this time. Follow the cleaning, moisturising and sun-protection plan and wait for clearance before eye make-up.

Why Dr Alex

Experience with CO2, and with the detail around the eyes

Dr Alexander Parys, known to his patients as Dr Alex, has presented at the CCR aesthetic medicine conference in London on SmartXide CO2 treatment, including the Laser Eyelift. He has also presented and demonstrated CO2 internationally and won Best SmartXide Transformation at the Lynton Excellence Awards 2023.

Industry colleagues choose him for their own CO2 and eyelift treatments. With eyelids, knowing where to treat is as important as choosing the settings. He examines the skin, lid position and brow before recommending a plan, and can talk you through his own results so you know what the treatment could offer.

Safety and aftercare

Looking after a delicate area

Swelling, redness and a sunburn-like feeling are expected initially. The surface can become dry or crusted as it heals, and redness may last beyond the first week.

Possible side effects

Complications can include infection, pigment changes, prolonged redness or scarring. Treatment around the eyes also carries risks of eye injury and a change in eyelid position, including the lower lid pulling away from the eye. Careful assessment, appropriate settings and protective shields are essential.

When to get urgent help

Eye pain, worsening light sensitivity or any change in vision needs immediate assessment at an eye emergency service or A&E. Contact the clinic promptly for worsening skin pain, spreading redness, blisters, pus or fever. If the clinic is unavailable, seek urgent advice through NHS 111; don't wait for a routine review.

When treatment may not be suitable

Active eye or skin infection, recent tanning, significant dry-eye problems, previous eyelid surgery or a lid that already sits away from the eye need particular attention. Tell Dr Alex about all medication, recent isotretinoin, poor healing, raised scars, pregnancy or breastfeeding so he can assess suitability.

You'll receive specific eyelid aftercare and a route to contact the clinic with concerns.

Your questions

More about the CO2 Laser Eyelift

Straightforward answers to the questions people understandably have about treating around the eyes.

Is this non-surgical blepharoplasty, a Madonna eye lift or plasma treatment?
'Non-surgical blepharoplasty' and 'Madonna eye lift' are names you may see for treatments around the eyes, but the names alone don't tell you which technology is being used. At SONÜ, the Laser Eyelift is fractional CO2 resurfacing with the SmartXide laser, also known as SmartXide Bleph. It is a laser treatment, not a plasma pen, and it doesn't involve surgically cutting away excess skin.
Can it help hooded eyelids?
It may help mild hooding caused by loose upper-lid skin. More substantial overhanging skin, a low brow or a drooping eyelid can need another approach. Dr Alex will examine the cause before saying what improvement the laser could offer.
Will it get rid of under-eye bags or dark circles?
It can improve crepey skin over the lower lids, but it doesn't remove prominent fat bags. Dark circles may involve pigment, visible vessels or hollowness, so they need their own assessment. Smoother skin is the main aim of this treatment.
Does it hurt, and how are my eyes protected?
Strong numbing cream is used beforehand, and Dr Alex will explain any additional local anaesthetic needed. Anaesthetic eye drops help with placing protective metal shields beneath the lids, rather like metal contact lenses. The shields stay in place during the laser treatment. You may still feel warmth or stinging, and the skin can feel sunburned afterwards.
How long is the downtime, and when can I wear make-up?
Allow around a week of social downtime, sometimes longer. The initial swelling often lasts roughly two days in Dr Alex's experience, but that isn't the full recovery: redness and surface healing take longer. Wait until the skin has healed and your aftercare permits eye make-up. Don't cover raw, crusted or weeping skin. Mention any wedding or holiday dates before booking so there is enough time to recover.
How long does a CO2 Laser Eyelift last?
The improvement can be long-lasting because the laser changes your own skin and stimulates collagen. There isn't an injected product waiting to wear off. Your skin will continue to age, so lines and looseness can develop again over time. Sun protection and good skincare help you look after the result; further treatment can be discussed if it becomes useful.
Can I have a Laser Eyelift if I have darker skin?
Darker skin may be suitable, but it needs careful assessment because pigment changes are more likely after treatment. Dr Alex may recommend skincare preparation before the laser, alongside settings and aftercare chosen for your skin. He'll explain whether CO2 is a good option for you.
When will I see the result, and will I need another session?
The skin may look smoother once it has healed, with further improvement over the next few months. Whether another treatment is useful depends on your starting skin and the change achieved. Dr Alex will review the result before recommending further treatment.
How is this different from anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections reduce selected muscle movements, such as those responsible for crow's feet. The laser treats skin texture and mild looseness. If both are part of your concern, Dr Alex can explain whether either treatment, or a planned combination, makes sense.
Can I combine it with treatment for my face and neck?
Yes, where suitable. Fractional CO2 to the face with a Laser Eyelift is £2,200 per session; face, neck and Laser Eyelift together is £2,500. CoolPeel to the face with a Laser Eyelift is £1,500. CoolPeel is the lighter facial treatment, while stronger fractional resurfacing addresses more established skin changes. Dr Alex will explain the recovery and agree the areas before treatment. The £75 laser consultation is separate.
