What you've noticed
When the hollow is above your eyes
You may have always had deep-set eyes, or noticed the area becoming more hollow over time. An A-shaped hollow towards the inner upper lid is often called an A-frame deformity, which is why you may see treatment described as A-frame filler.
The practical details
Upper eyelid filler at a glance
The treatment targets hollow contours above the eyes. Dr Alex will assess whether that is the cause of the change you've noticed.
A fresher appearance
Less hollow above the eyes, less drawn overall
Softening a deep upper-eye hollow can reduce the shadow beneath the brow and make the surrounding contour look smoother.
Your eyes can look more rested because the skin above them no longer dips in as sharply. In suitable eyes, softening that deep hollow can also give the area a slightly more almond-shaped appearance. Where one side is more hollow, treatment may improve the balance between the upper lids.
The aim isn't to fill away every crease. The upper eyelid needs its natural fold, and keeping that shape is part of achieving a result that looks like you.
Filler helps the shadow created by a hollow. It won't necessarily change darker skin pigmentation or the appearance caused by excess skin, a low brow or a drooping eyelid.

Would it suit you?
Hollowing and hooding need different answers
Adding support can be helpful when volume is missing. An examination establishes whether that is the main issue.
When filler isn't the answer
It won't remove loose eyelid skin
A heavy fold of skin, a low eyebrow and a true drooping eyelid are different from a hollow. Adding filler can make some of these concerns look heavier rather than better.
Dr Alex will explain whether a skin treatment, surgery or an eye specialist's assessment would be more appropriate. A new or unexplained change in one eye also needs assessment before cosmetic treatment.
How it works
Restoring the contour beneath the brow
Hyaluronic acid filler supports tissue around a suitable upper-eye hollow, reducing the depth of the indentation.
When volume is lost above the eye, the skin can sit closer to the bony rim of the socket. The resulting dip catches shadow and makes the area look more sunken. Bony support also changes with age: parts of the socket rim can recede as bone is gradually resorbed, contributing to that hollow appearance.
Filler replaces some of the missing soft-tissue support, softening the dip and the transition from brow to upper lid. It does not rebuild the bone. The treatment is around the upper-eye tissues, not an injection into the eye itself.
This differs from improving the quality of crepey skin. Filler addresses a volume deficit; treatments such as polynucleotides may be considered for skin quality, but they don't replace missing volume in the same way.

Why SONÜ
Why see Dr Alex for upper eyelid filler?
Around the eyes, replacing missing volume and adding unnecessary bulk can lead to very different appearances. Dr Alex will assess the hollow, brow position and eyelid skin together before recommending treatment.
He teaches doctors, dentists and nurses across dermal filler ranges and is currently a trainer for Evolus's Estyme fillers. He has also filmed filler-injection education for MaiLi's international professional audience.
Your consultation will focus on whether filler is likely to soften the sunken appearance you see. If excess skin, swelling or a drooping lid is the bigger issue, he'll explain why another approach may be better.

Safety
What should you know about filler around the eyes?
The eyelid area is delicate. Product choice, the existing tissues and a suitable treatment plan all affect the result.
Possible side effects
Bruising, tenderness and swelling can occur. Possible longer-lasting problems include puffiness, visible or uneven filler, a bluish tinge, lumps and delayed inflammation. Infection is also possible.
Rarely, filler can block a blood vessel and damage tissue. Injections around the eyes also carry a rare risk of permanent loss of vision; stroke has been reported after facial filler. These risks need to be discussed before treatment.
HA filler can often be reduced with a dissolving enzyme if appropriate, but dissolving has risks of its own and cannot be relied on to reverse a serious complication.
Changes that need urgent assessment
Call 999 immediately for sudden blurred or lost vision, severe eye pain, weakness or trouble speaking, and mention the filler treatment. Contact the clinic urgently for increasing or unusual pain, pale or dusky skin, mottling, or redness and swelling that are getting worse. Seek urgent care if you cannot reach us.
When treatment may need to wait
Tell Dr Alex about eye conditions, previous surgery or filler, allergies, medicines, pregnancy or breastfeeding and relevant health conditions so he can advise on suitability. Active infection or unexplained new swelling needs assessment first.
An assessment does not commit you to treatment. You can take time to consider the recommendation.
