Juläine collagen stimulation

Juläine Collagen Treatment in Hale, Altrincham

Build firmer, smoother-looking skin and soften facial folds with an injectable treatment that encourages your own collagen to develop gradually.

The little creases across your cheeks seem to stay put now, and the folds beside your mouth are deeper than they used to be. You'd like smoother, firmer skin, but you aren't necessarily looking for fuller cheeks.

Juläine is a collagen-stimulating injectable made with poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA. It works gradually, helping the skin build new collagen over the months after treatment. Dr Alex can assess whether it suits the lines, folds and loss of firmness you want to improve.

What you might have noticed

When your skin needs more than moisturiser

Your skincare may still feel good, but it isn't changing the creases or firmness that bother you.

Fine lines stay across your cheeks

You notice them even when you aren't smiling. Makeup can settle into them, making the skin look more creased rather than smoother.

The folds beside your mouth look deeper

The lines from the sides of your nose towards your mouth have become more noticeable. You'd like them softened in a way that still suits the rest of your face.

Your skin feels less firm

You like your features, but the skin over them feels thinner or less springy. Better skin quality may be more important to you than a new cheek shape.

The result

Skin that looks smoother and feels firmer

The aim is to reduce the creasing and loss of firmness you see, with a gradual change in the treated areas.

Juläine can soften nose-to-mouth folds and improve facial skin quality as new collagen develops. The result builds over time rather than appearing as an immediate, finished correction on the day.

New collagen adds support and thickness, which can also restore some fullness. Dr Alex will plan around your proportions, including whether you need more support or mainly want better skin. Significant loose skin may need a different approach.

Is it for you?

Who might consider Juläine?

It may fit if skin firmness and a gradual result are high on your list.

You want to work on skin quality
Your concern is creasing or a loss of firmness across an area, rather than one feature you want reshaped. Collagen stimulation may suit that aim.
You're comfortable waiting for the result
You can allow time between appointments and over the following months. This is a planned treatment, rather than a last-minute freshen-up before a wedding.
You want help choosing between injectables
Juläine, HA filler and skin boosters do different jobs. Dr Alex can explain which is most likely to address what you see in the mirror before you commit to a course.

Choosing the right approach

Sometimes a different treatment makes more sense

For immediate lip or facial shaping, HA filler may be more suitable. For surface roughness, pigmentation or more pronounced laxity, a skin or laser treatment may offer more of the change you want. Juläine cannot be dissolved with the enzyme used for HA filler.

How it works

Your skin builds the collagen

Juläine contains tiny particles of PLLA, a material that gradually breaks down in the body.

The particles stimulate a tissue response that encourages new collagen to form. Collagen helps give skin its structure and support. As it develops, the treated area can look smoother and feel firmer.

The fluid used to prepare the product can make the area look fuller immediately, but that settles. It isn't the collagen result. Allowing time for the response to develop helps Dr Alex judge how much further treatment, if any, would be useful.

Your appointment

What happens during Juläine treatment?

The plan starts with the change you want, then the areas and amount needed to work towards it.

Consultation

Assess your skin and previous treatments

Dr Alex looks at your skin, folds and facial proportions. Tell him about previous filler, collagen stimulators, medical conditions, medicines and any history of unusual scarring or reactions.
Planning

Agree your course and cost

You'll discuss the areas, likely number of appointments, recovery and total fee. Ask how the plan compares with other collagen treatments or HA filler if you're unsure.
Injections

Treat the agreed areas

The product is prepared and injected into the selected areas. You may feel pressure, stinging or tenderness. Comfort measures are discussed, and you can ask to pause.
Aftercare and review

Give the collagen time to develop

Follow your product-specific aftercare, including any advice about massage, exercise and other skin treatments. The review looks at the developing result rather than the initial swelling.

Why Dr Alex

Why choose Dr Alex for Juläine?

Dr Alex teaches doctors, dentists and nurses in aesthetic medicine in the UK and internationally. He has previously been a trainer and medical advisory board member for Sinclair, whose treatment range includes the collagen stimulator LanLuma.

For Juläine, the assessment focuses on where collagen stimulation is likely to help and where a different treatment would be a better fit. He'll distinguish a deeper fold from surface creasing or a loss of facial volume, and explain the amount of change you can reasonably expect.

Safety and recovery

What should you know before treatment?

Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising can occur after injections. Allow time for these to settle before judging your appearance.

Possible side effects

Lumps or nodules, unevenness, infection and delayed inflammatory reactions are possible. Juläine cannot be quickly dissolved with hyaluronidase, the enzyme used for HA filler.

Rarely, facial injections can affect a blood vessel and cause skin injury or serious visual or neurological complications. Dr Alex will discuss the risks relevant to the areas being treated and explain what to do if you have a concern.

When to get urgent help

Contact the clinic immediately for severe or increasing pain, or skin that becomes unusually pale, grey, dusky or mottled. Do not wait for a routine review. Call 999 for a change in vision, severe eye pain, sudden weakness, difficulty speaking or breathing, or swelling of the tongue or throat.

When Juläine may not be suitable

Treatment is not offered during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or into infected or inflamed skin. Immune conditions, allergies, a tendency to problematic scarring and previous filler can affect suitability. Tell Dr Alex about medicines that affect bleeding or healing; do not stop prescribed treatment without your prescriber's advice.

You can consider the options and decide in your own time.

Your questions

Juläine treatment questions

The differences between gradual collagen treatment and an immediate filler result.

Is Juläine a filler or a skin-quality treatment?
It is a collagen-stimulating injectable. It can soften folds and improve firmness as new collagen develops, and that response can add some support and volume. Dr Alex will plan it around your face rather than assuming everyone wants fuller cheeks.
How is Juläine different from Sculptra or LanLuma?
All three use PLLA to stimulate collagen. They have different particle designs, preparation instructions and treatment plans. Dr Alex will compare how they suit your skin, the areas you want treated and the number of appointments involved.
How does it compare with Ellansé or HA filler?
Ellansé provides an initial filling effect from its carrier gel as well as collagen stimulation. Conventional HA fillers mainly use an injected gel to shape or support the face. Juläine relies on a developing collagen response for its lasting result, so it suits someone who can wait for improvement rather than needing immediate correction.
Will it make my face look bigger?
Collagen can add thickness and support, so some volume change is possible. The aim can still be firmer skin and softer folds rather than noticeably larger cheeks. Dr Alex will explain where he proposes treatment and how much change is intended.
When will I notice a difference?
Look for changes over the weeks after treatment, with the result continuing to develop over several months. The initial fullness is partly treatment fluid and swelling, so it should not be mistaken for new collagen.
How many sessions will I need?
A course of three sessions is usually recommended. Dr Alex will confirm the number and spacing after assessing your skin, then review how the result develops. At £750 per session, three sessions cost £2,250.
How long will the results last?
Improvement in nose-to-mouth folds can still be present a year after treatment. Your skin continues to age, so a review helps decide when maintenance would be useful. Dr Alex will explain what to expect for the areas you are having treated.
Can Juläine be dissolved?
Not with hyaluronidase, which is used to dissolve HA filler. The product gradually breaks down, but there is no routine quick reversal of the collagen response. If being able to dissolve a treatment is important to you, discuss that before choosing Juläine.
Can I go back to work afterwards?
Often, but small marks, swelling or bruising may be visible. It is sensible to leave some space before an important event rather than rely on being able to cover everything the next morning. Follow the clinic's advice on makeup and exercise.
Can I combine it with laser or other injectables?
A combined plan may be appropriate if you have more than one concern. The order and spacing depend on the treatments and how your skin is recovering. Tell Dr Alex about anything booked elsewhere so the appointments can be planned together.
