What you've noticed
Even your favourite studs seem to sit differently
Earlobes can become thinner and lose their shape over time. Sometimes the first clue is what happens when you put your jewellery on.
The practical details
Earlobe filler at a glance
Treatment focuses on the soft lobe at the bottom of the ear, with the amount of correction agreed at consultation.
The result
Smoother lobes with a little more support
Restoring lost cushioning can soften the fine folds in an earlobe and make its outline look rounder again.
The aim is to improve the part that has thinned, rather than enlarge the whole ear. Where the tissue around a piercing is intact but has lost support, that change may also help an earring sit better.
Dr Alex will assess the shape of each lobe separately. One side may need more correction, and a naturally small lobe doesn't need to become a large one to look less creased.

Is it right for you?
Has the lobe thinned, stretched or split?
These changes can look similar at first, but they need different treatment. Filler is most useful when missing volume is the main problem.
When repair is needed
Filler won't close a split earlobe
A torn piercing, a large stretched opening or a very elongated lobe may need surgical repair or reduction. Filler adds support; it doesn't stitch tissue together or remove excess skin. Dr Alex will explain when a repair assessment would be more useful.
How it works
Replacing the cushioning beneath the creases
Hyaluronic acid filler is a gel that adds volume within the soft tissue of the earlobe.
When an earlobe loses thickness, the overlying skin can fold more easily and the lower edge may look less rounded. Filler supports that skin from beneath, reducing the deflated appearance and softening the folds.
The position of the support also affects the shape. Restoring the lower part of a lobe can improve its rounded edge; supporting suitable tissue around a piercing may help an earring sit more upright.
The gel gradually breaks down, so the improvement isn't permanent.

Why Dr Alex
Filler experience, with attention to the smaller details
Dr Alex teaches doctors, dentists and nurses how to use dermal fillers across several ranges. He is currently a trainer for Evolus's Estyme filler range and has helped launch Estyme and Aliaxin LV in the UK.
An earlobe needs its own assessment. The thickness of the tissue, the position of a piercing and the amount of stretched skin all affect whether adding filler will give you the change you want. He'll examine these before recommending a product or an amount.
The goal might be smoother skin, a better shape or more support for earrings. It needn't be bigger lobes.

Side effects and suitability
What should you know before earlobe filler?
Bruising, swelling, redness and tenderness can occur around the injections. Leave some time before an occasion when you'd want to wear particular earrings.
Possible side effects
Unevenness, lumps, infection and delayed inflammatory reactions are possible. If you are prone to thick, raised scars or have had a piercing infection, tell Dr Alex before treatment.
Injection into a blood vessel is an uncommon but serious complication that can damage the skin.
Changes that need prompt help
Contact SONÜ urgently for unusual or increasing pain, or skin becoming pale, grey, dusky or mottled. Seek urgent medical care if you cannot reach the clinic. Rapid swelling with breathing difficulty needs emergency help - call 999.
When treatment may need to wait
An infected piercing, broken skin or active inflammation needs assessment before filler. Tell Dr Alex about allergies, medicines, previous filler reactions, pregnancy or breastfeeding and any relevant health conditions.
You can discuss the options and take time to decide before treatment.
Treatment costs
How much does earlobe filler cost?
Treatment starts from £400 for the first 1 ml. We’ll agree the amount, areas and total cost with you before treatment.
