A little time out. A boost for your skin.

Dermalux LED for calmer, brighter skin in Hale, Altrincham

A relaxing light treatment to help calm redness, improve skin texture and bring back some brightness - without needles, discomfort or downtime.

Your skin looks tired, feels a bit unsettled, or could simply do with some attention. You'd like a treatment that helps, but you're not looking for peeling, injections or a week of explaining your face to colleagues.

Dermalux uses carefully chosen colours of LED light to support the skin's repair processes. You lie back beneath the light while it works. Red and near-infrared light support skin rejuvenation and help calm inflammation; blue light can be included when breakouts are part of the problem.

What you might notice

When your skin needs a gentler approach

Sometimes adding another strong serum is the last thing your skin needs. A comfortable course of LED may be a better way to give it some support.

Your skin has lost its usual brightness

It looks a little flat, even when you're getting enough sleep. You'd like it to look healthier and feel smoother, without having a more intensive procedure.

Redness keeps showing through

Your cheeks look pink or your skin feels easily irritated. You want help calming it down, with a plan that takes sensitivity seriously.

You want treatment you can enjoy

You're interested in looking after your skin regularly. Lying back for a light treatment, then getting straight on with your day, sounds considerably more appealing than recovery time.

The result

Skin that looks brighter and feels more settled

Dermalux can help soften the appearance of fine lines, improve mild roughness and calm some forms of redness. It is an approachable way to support your skin over time.

You may notice your complexion looks less tired or feels smoother between appointments. Red and near-infrared LED can support collagen production and repair, while a programme including blue light can help inflamed breakouts.

Regular sessions give these changes time to develop. A single treatment can be a pleasant boost, but a course is more useful when you're working towards a lasting improvement. We'll review whether the changes are making treatment worthwhile for you.

Is it right for you?

A useful option when comfort comes first

Dermalux can suit a wide range of skin tones and concerns. We'll choose the light programme around your skin rather than giving everyone the same session.

You prefer a needle-free treatment
You'd like to do more for your skin without injections or resurfacing. LED offers a gentle way to start regular clinic treatment.
Your skin is easily upset
You find some active skincare or treatments too much. We'll first check what is causing the irritation and whether LED belongs in your plan.
You're already having skin treatment
Dermalux can sometimes support recovery alongside other procedures. Tell us what you've had, or are planning, so the timing and light programme work together.

Choosing your treatment

When your skin needs something more targeted

LED won't remove deep scars, lift loose skin or clear visible facial veins. Persistent redness, changing marks or a troublesome rash need the right assessment first. Dr Alex can explain when IPL, microneedling, laser or medical skin care would address your concern more directly.

How it works

Different colours, different jobs

LED phototherapy uses light to influence activity within the skin. It does not use UV, burn away the surface or rely on injuring the skin.

Red light supports the activity involved in skin renewal and collagen production. Near-infrared light reaches more deeply and can help support repair and calm inflammation. Blue light acts on bacteria involved in acne.

The Dermalux Flex panel delivers the selected combination while you relax underneath it. The programme is chosen for your concern; you don't need to work out which colour to book yourself.

Your appointment

Lie back and let the light do its work

We'll explain the plan, prepare your skin and make sure you're comfortable before the light treatment begins.

Before treatment

Talk through your skin

Tell us what you'd like to improve, what skincare and medicines you use, and whether light has ever triggered a reaction or headache.
Getting ready

Prepare for the light

The treatment area is cleansed and protective eyewear is fitted. We select the programme and position the panel above your skin.
During treatment

Take some time out

You lie comfortably beneath the light for the selected session. It should feel comfortable, with perhaps some gentle warmth. You can let us know if you need an adjustment or a pause.
Afterwards

Carry on with your day

We'll finish with suitable skincare and daytime sun protection, and explain when to return. Dermalux alone doesn't normally stop you applying makeup or going back to work.

Why Dr Alex

Skin care with a medical view of the bigger picture

Dr Alex's work includes injectables, IPL, microneedling and laser treatments. That range is useful when deciding whether a gentle option such as Dermalux is enough, or whether a particular concern needs something else.

At SONÜ, LED fits into a plan for your skin. Redness, sensitivity and breakouts aren't treated as interchangeable problems, and an existing skincare or prescription routine is considered before treatment is recommended. You can enjoy the relaxed appointment while the clinical decisions are taken seriously.

Safety and aftercare

Gentle treatment still starts with a skin check

We'll check your medical history, medicines and any sensitivity to light before starting. Protective eyewear is used during treatment.

Possible side effects

Brief warmth or flushing can occur. Headaches, light-sensitive reactions and changes in pigmentation are possible, so tell us about melasma, previous dark marks after treatment or light-triggered migraines.

Keep your routine simple if your skin is irritated and use daily sun protection. If Dermalux is combined with another procedure, follow the aftercare for that procedure too.

When to get urgent help

Stop treatment and contact the clinic if you develop an unexpected rash, persistent discomfort or worsening swelling. Eye pain or changes in vision need urgent medical assessment.

When treatment needs to wait

Some light-sensitive conditions, medicines, epilepsy and active cancer can rule out treatment. Treatment is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. A new or changing skin lesion should be assessed by your GP or dermatologist; SONÜ does not diagnose skin lesions.

You can pause a session, ask questions or take time to decide.

Your questions

More about Dermalux LED

What the light does, how often to come and where it fits alongside other treatments.

Can red light really help my skin?
Red and near-infrared light can support collagen production and the skin's repair processes. With regular treatment, that can translate into smoother texture and softer fine lines. LED works gradually, so it makes more sense as a course or regular skin support than as a one-off answer to deep wrinkles.
Is Dermalux painful?
No. It is intended to be comfortable and relaxing. You may feel gentle warmth, and you wear protective eyewear beneath the bright light. There are no needles or sharp flashes. Let us know if you are sensitive to light or prone to headaches.
Will my skin be red or peeling afterwards?
Peeling isn't part of a Dermalux treatment, and there is no routine downtime. Some temporary warmth or flushing is possible. You can normally apply makeup and return to work straight afterwards. If LED is part of a combined appointment, the other treatment may have its own recovery.
How many sessions should I book?
Regular treatment is usually more useful than occasional sessions for an ongoing concern. The schedule depends on whether we're working on redness, breakouts or general skin rejuvenation. We'll agree the frequency and review your progress, which may mean recommending more than six sessions.
Can it help redness or rosacea?
It can help calm inflammation and some visible redness. It doesn't close individual thread veins in the way targeted IPL can, and it isn't a cure for rosacea. If your cheeks are persistently red, sore or spotty, we'll discuss which parts of the problem LED may help and what else you need.
Is it suitable for darker skin?
LED can be used across skin tones. We'll still ask about pigmentation, melasma and previous reactions, particularly when considering blue light. The light programme should suit your skin and medical history, rather than simply being the same for every patient.
Is clinic LED better than my home mask?
A good home device used consistently can have a place in your routine. At SONÜ, the benefit is having your skin assessed and the Dermalux programme selected and reviewed for your concern. Bring the details of your mask if you're using one, so we can discuss how the two would fit together.
Can I combine it with a facial, peel or laser?
Often, yes. LED can be used alongside other skin treatments, but the timing and programme depend on the procedure and how your skin is recovering. Tell us about treatments elsewhere too. We can advise whether adding Dermalux is worthwhile before you book.
Does it help acne or old acne scars?
A programme including blue light can help inflamed breakouts. Our Dermalux acne page explains that treatment in more detail. Indented scars usually need a treatment that changes skin texture, such as microneedling or laser; LED can have a supporting role in the wider plan.
Is it just for the face?
The flexible panel can also be used over areas such as the neck, chest or back. Tell us the area and concern when enquiring so we can confirm suitability, the appointment and the fee. It doesn't involve tanning or UV exposure.
