What you might have noticed
When the lower face starts looking heavier
You may still like your features, but miss the clearer outline you used to see in photographs.
At a glance
Silhouette Soft at a glance
A treatment for repositioning suitable facial tissue, planned around the amount of lift your skin can support.
The result
A clearer outline, with your own features
The aim is to lift suitable sagging tissue so the cheeks and lower face look less heavy.
Threads can reposition tissue around the cheeks and jowls, helping soften folds and improve the outline of the lower face. A neck treatment may also be considered after assessment. The developing collagen response adds support around the threads.
Expect a more modest change than a surgical facelift. Threads do not remove excess skin, and heavy tissue or substantial sagging may need a different approach. Dr Alex will explain the likely improvement before you commit, rather than ask you to choose a thread count from a menu.

Is it for you?
When a thread lift makes sense
The amount of sagging and the quality of your skin matter more than a particular birthday.
Choosing your treatment
How much lift would make you happy?
If you want a major change to the jawline or have significant loose skin, a surgical consultation may give you a more useful answer. For mainly fine lines, roughness or crepey skin, a skin treatment such as laser may be more relevant. The consultation helps separate these concerns.
How it works
Lift first, with collagen support over time
Silhouette Soft threads have small cones that engage the tissue beneath the skin.
Once the threads are positioned, the tissue can be gently repositioned along them. This creates the lifting effect. The absorbable material also stimulates collagen as the body responds around it.
The threads gradually break down. The result is temporary, and the face continues to age. Placement, skin quality and the weight of the tissue all influence how much lift is achievable and how long it remains noticeable.
Your appointment
What happens during a Silhouette Soft lift?
There is time to look at your face at rest and in movement before agreeing a plan.

Why Dr Alex
Experience in choosing where threads will help
Dr Alex has previously been a trainer and medical-advisory-board member for Sinclair. He has also presented on Silhouette Soft principles at its Manchester Expert Meeting.
For your treatment, the useful question is whether lifting the tissue will address what bothers you. He'll assess sagging, volume loss and skin quality separately, then explain whether threads, another treatment or a surgical opinion is the better fit.

Safety and recovery
Give the lift time to settle
Bruising, swelling, tenderness, tightness and temporary dimpling or puckering can follow treatment. The face may initially look uneven while it settles.
Possible side effects
Less common problems include infection, persistent pain, visible or palpable threads, thread movement or exposure, and lasting irregularity or asymmetry. Nerve injury and changes in sensation or movement are also possible. Occasionally a thread needs adjustment or removal.
Follow your aftercare rather than trying to massage out a dimple yourself. Let the clinic know about a concern so it can be assessed.
When to get urgent help
Contact the clinic promptly for increasing pain, heat, spreading redness, discharge, fever, sudden marked swelling or an exposed thread. New facial weakness needs urgent medical assessment. Call 999 for a change in vision, difficulty speaking, sudden limb weakness, difficulty breathing or swelling of the tongue or throat.
When treatment may need to wait
Pregnancy or breastfeeding, active infection or inflammation in the area, and allergies to the proposed materials or anaesthetic need consideration. Previous surgery or threads, immune conditions, bleeding problems and medicines can affect the plan. Do not stop prescribed medicines without advice from your prescriber.
You can take time to weigh up the likely lift, recovery and cost before deciding.
Treatment costs
Silhouette Soft treatment pricing
