For crepey, crinkly neck skin

Lanluma neck treatment in Hale, Altrincham

Help your neck skin look smoother and feel firmer by stimulating your own collagen, with a gradual improvement in crepey texture and mild looseness.

You have a skincare routine for your face. Your neck may have been getting whatever was left on your hands. Now the skin looks a little thinner and more crinkly, and you notice it when you turn your head or see yourself on a video call.

Lanluma is an injectable collagen stimulator that can improve the support beneath the skin. On the neck, the aim is smoother, firmer skin, rather than adding bulk. It can be particularly useful when crepey texture is the change you want to tackle.

What catches your eye?

The little folds that were not there before

Neck changes can be more obvious in some positions and lighting than others. It helps to show Dr Alex what you are seeing.

Skin that looks crinkled

There are lots of little creases beneath your chin or across your neck, rather than just one deep line. The skin looks thinner and less smooth even when it does not feel dry.

A looser look when you turn

The skin gathers or folds more as you move your head. You would like it to feel firmer and look less crepey, while still moving naturally.

Your face and neck do not quite match

You are happy with how your face looks, but your neck seems to have changed more. You would like to give it some attention too, without turning it into a whole new project.

What can improve?

A smoother look to thin, crepey skin

Lanluma can soften the appearance of fine crinkling and improve mild looseness by building collagen beneath the skin.

The intention is to improve the skin across the treated area, so it looks less papery and feels better supported. Your neck will still fold naturally when you look down or turn your head.

Improvement develops gradually. The skin may look or feel fuller immediately after injection because of the treatment fluid and swelling, then settle before the collagen response becomes apparent.

Is Lanluma right for your neck?

Start with what is causing the change

Crepey skin, deep creases, vertical bands and a double chin can look similar at a glance, but they need different treatment plans.

The skin itself looks thin and crinkly
You are noticing a wider patch of crepey texture rather than one isolated line. Improving collagen support may address more of what bothers you than filling a single crease.
There is mild looseness to improve
Your neck skin is a little less firm, and you are looking for a gradual improvement. Dr Alex will assess whether there is enough potential benefit to make a course worthwhile.
You can follow the aftercare
Massage and care of the injection sites are part of the treatment. It helps to plan around important events and leave time for the skin to respond between appointments.

A useful boundary

It will not remove a large fold of loose skin

If your main concern is a pronounced 'turkey neck', strong muscle bands or a pocket of fat, Lanluma alone may disappoint. Dr Alex can explain whether another non-surgical treatment would help or whether a surgical consultation is the more useful next step.

How it works

Encouraging the skin to build more support

Lanluma contains PLLA particles that stimulate your body's collagen production. Collagen helps give skin its strength and firmness.

On the neck, treatment is planned to improve skin quality across the selected area. As the collagen response develops, the skin can look smoother and feel firmer.

The product is gradually broken down by the body. The change you are waiting for is the tissue response it encourages, which takes longer than the temporary swelling after the appointment.

Your appointment

What neck treatment involves

The first job is to establish whether the change you see is mainly skin, muscle or fat.

Consultation

Examine your neck

Dr Alex looks at the neck at rest and as you move, checks skin quality and asks about previous procedures. You can explain which positions or photographs make the change most noticeable.
Before treatment

Agree the plan

You will discuss the likely benefit, the proposed course and the total expected cost. The treatment area is photographed, marked and cleaned, and comfort measures are explained.
During the appointment

Place the Lanluma

Dr Alex uses a needle or cannula to place the product in the planned tissue layer. You may feel stinging, pressure or tenderness. The aim is an even treatment of the chosen area.
After treatment

Massage, settle and review

You will be shown the massage routine and given aftercare instructions. Let the initial swelling settle and give the collagen time to develop before assessing whether another session is needed.

Why Dr Alex

Experience with Lanluma and the alternatives

Dr Alex has been a Lanluma trainer and a medical advisory board member for Sinclair, and has presented on the treatment at CCR London.

A neck consultation also draws on his work with other treatments for neck skin and muscle. He will distinguish crepey texture from necklace lines, muscle bands and fat beneath the chin, then explain which treatment is likely to address the change you have noticed. Lanluma does not have to be the answer to all of them.

Safety and recovery

The skin can be delicate here

Bruising, swelling, redness and tenderness can occur after neck treatment. These usually settle, but they may be noticeable with an open collar.

Possible side effects

Lumps and inflammatory nodules are an important risk, particularly in thin skin. They can appear later, persist and need treatment. Infection and allergic reactions are also possible. Rarely, an injection can affect a blood vessel and damage the skin. Lanluma cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase.

When to get urgent help

Seek immediate advice from the clinic for increasing or unusual pain, pale or mottled skin, marked swelling or spreading redness. Fever or feeling unwell needs urgent assessment. Call 999 for difficulty breathing or swallowing. Report any new or persistent lump, even if it develops months later.

When treatment may need to wait

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, active skin infection or inflammation and an allergy to the ingredients rule out treatment. Dr Alex will also review any history of abnormal scarring, immune conditions, healing problems and previous injectables or surgery in the neck.

The treatment and massage plan are explained before you go ahead.

Your questions

Crepey skin, neck lines and the practical bits

The most useful starting point is which part of your neck you would like to change.

Will Lanluma tighten my neck?
It can improve mild looseness and crepey skin by stimulating collagen. Think firmer, smoother skin rather than the lift from surgery. If there is a substantial amount of hanging skin, Dr Alex will explain why another approach may give a more worthwhile result.
Can it get rid of horizontal neck lines?
It may improve the skin around fine lines, but a deep necklace crease can need a more targeted treatment. If one or two horizontal lines are your main concern, Dr Alex may discuss hyaluronic acid filler or another option rather than treating the whole neck with Lanluma.
What about the vertical bands down my neck?
Those bands often come from the platysma muscle. Lanluma acts on skin support and does not relax that muscle. Botulinum toxin may be considered for suitable bands, with a separate skin treatment if crepiness is also bothering you.
Will my neck look bulky?
Adding obvious volume is not the aim of a neck skin-quality treatment. The plan is adapted to improve support across the area. Temporary swelling can make the neck look fuller initially, and the longer-term response is reviewed before adding more product.
How is this different from Profhilo?
Both can be considered for neck skin quality. Profhilo uses hyaluronic acid, while Lanluma uses PLLA to stimulate a gradual collagen response. They have different treatment courses, aftercare and risk profiles. Dr Alex can explain which is better suited to the thickness, looseness and texture of your skin.
How quickly will my neck improve?
Allow weeks to months for the collagen response, with improvement building across any recommended course. The neck may look swollen straight afterwards; that is not the result you are judging. Comparing photographs in the same position and light is a better way to assess progress.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on your starting skin quality and the change you want. A course may be recommended, with time between appointments to assess the response. Dr Alex will explain the proposed number, spacing and cost at consultation rather than assuming every neck needs the same plan.
Can I return to work straight away?
Most people can continue ordinary daily activities, although bruising or swelling may show. Choose your timing with that in mind if you have an event or photographs planned. Follow the aftercare instructions about exercise, heat, skincare and massage.
How long does the improvement last?
The collagen response is gradual and can provide an improvement that lasts beyond the initial course. Your neck will continue to age, so further treatment may be useful later. Dr Alex will review your skin and response before recommending maintenance rather than putting you on an automatic repeat course.
Do I have to massage the area?
Massage is part of Lanluma aftercare. Dr Alex will demonstrate the technique and tell you how often and for how long to do it. A sore, red or new persistent lump should be checked by the clinic, not simply massaged harder.
