What you might have noticed
When your skin feels less firm
Sometimes you want to restore a little cheek support. Sometimes you're happy with your face shape and just want the skin to look better.
At a glance
Ellansé at a glance
An initial result from the gel, with collagen building over the following months.
The result
More support and better skin quality
Ellansé can soften deeper folds, restore lost support and improve the firmness of skin that has become thinner or more creased.
The treatment can have different aims. If your cheeks have become hollow, Dr Alex can use Ellansé to restore support and improve the contours of your face. If you mainly want better skin quality, he can distribute smaller amounts across a wider area with a cannula, a fine blunt-tipped tube.
That lighter approach aims for smoother, firmer skin without deliberately building up your cheeks. Collagen itself adds structure and some thickness, so the amount used still needs careful planning. The improvement develops over the months after treatment.

Is it for you?
When Ellansé is worth considering
The choice depends on whether you want to restore lost volume, improve the skin over it, or do both.
Choosing your filler
Think about reversibility before you decide
Ellansé cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase, the enzyme used for hyaluronic acid filler. If you want the option of dissolving your filler later, an HA product may suit you better. Ellansé also won't remove excess skin or reproduce a surgical facelift.
How it works
What happens as the gel wears off?
Ellansé contains a temporary carrier gel and tiny collagen-stimulating particles called PCL.
The gel gives the initial filling effect and is gradually absorbed over roughly 2-3 months. During this time, new collagen develops around the PCL particles and helps maintain support as the gel disappears. The particles last longer than the gel and eventually break down too.
With a conventional hyaluronic acid (HA) filler, the injected gel provides most of the correction. With Ellansé, your own collagen contributes to the lasting result. This can be a useful choice when you want better firmness and skin quality alongside softer folds or restored volume.
HA filler may be a better choice for precise shaping in areas such as the lips, or if you want the option of dissolving it later. Dr Alex will compare the treatments against what you actually want to change.

Why Dr Alex
Why choose Dr Alex for Ellansé?
Dr Alex has previously been a trainer and medical advisory board member for Sinclair, the company behind Ellansé. His work with its treatment range included Ellansé, and he teaches medical professionals in aesthetic medicine in the UK and internationally.
His assessment separates a loss of volume from a change in the skin itself. He can plan a treatment for support, a lighter cannula treatment for firmness, or a combination. He'll also explain when HA filler would suit you better, including where precise shaping or the option of dissolving it is a priority.

Safety and recovery
What should you know before treatment?
Temporary swelling, tenderness, redness and bruising can occur after injections. These usually settle as the treated area recovers.
Possible side effects
Lumps, asymmetry, infection and inflammatory reactions are possible, including reactions that appear later. Rarely, filler can obstruct a blood vessel, causing skin injury; facial filler injections can also cause serious visual or neurological complications.
Ellansé cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Any persistent lump, change in the skin or concern about the result needs assessment rather than an attempt to massage or dissolve it yourself. Dr Alex will explain the risks relevant to your treatment areas.
When to get urgent help
Contact the clinic immediately for severe or increasing pain, or skin that turns unusually pale, grey, dusky or mottled. Do not wait for a routine review. Any change in vision, severe eye pain, sudden weakness or difficulty speaking needs emergency help - call 999. Difficulty breathing or swelling of the tongue or throat also needs emergency help.
When Ellansé may not be suitable
Treatment is not offered during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or into an area with an active infection or inflammation. Allergies, bleeding problems, immune conditions and previous filler can affect suitability. Ellansé is not used as a lip or under-eye filler. Tell Dr Alex what filler you have had, where and when; existing filler can change where or whether Ellansé is appropriate.
You can take time to consider the plan and choose another option, or no treatment.
