Does this sound familiar?
You'd like those lines to be less noticeable
It might be something you've thought about for years, or one small change you're curious about. Either is a great place to start.

The details you'll want to know
Treatment takes effect gradually, and there's an included opportunity to review the result.
What changes
Softer lines when you look in the mirror
You should see less obvious creasing across your forehead as the treatment begins to work.
The biggest change is usually in the lines that deepen when you lift your eyebrows. As that movement reduces, the forehead can look smoother. Lines that remain at rest may soften as well, though an established crease may still be visible.
How much smoothing you want - and how much is actually possible - is discussed at your consultation. You might prefer to leave more movement, even if that means keeping a few lines. Dr Alex will explain where that balance is realistic for you.
Results last for a few months and fade gradually. The timing varies with the treatment and your response, so you can decide whether and when you'd like to repeat it.

Would it be worthwhile?
What's making your forehead look lined?
Two foreheads can look similarly lined and need different advice. Dr Alex checks the movement as well as the skin itself.
What Botox can and can't do
More treatment doesn't always mean a smoother forehead
Once the muscle movement has reduced, a remaining crease may be a skin issue. Adding more toxin might leave you with less expression and much the same line.
Dr Alex will tell you when that's the likely trade-off. A realistic softening can be a good result; promising to erase every line would be a different matter.
The explanation
Why relaxing a muscle softens a line
Your forehead muscle lifts your eyebrows. As it contracts, the skin above them folds into horizontal creases.
Botulinum toxin temporarily reduces the nerve signal to that muscle. Small injections make it work less strongly, so those folds become less obvious. It doesn't fill the line or add volume to your forehead.
The muscles between your brows also affect the way the upper face moves. Dr Alex looks at the whole area before deciding whether to treat the forehead alone or include the frown lines.
You'll often hear this treatment called Botox, although Botox is also a brand name. Dr Alex will discuss the type of botulinum toxin he recommends as part of your plan.

Experience relevant to your treatment
Why choose Dr Alex for forehead Botox?
Dr Alex teaches doctors, dentists and nurses in botulinum toxin treatments and is an International Key Opinion Leader and Advocate for Evolus. He has presented on botulinum toxin in the UK and internationally, with talks at Wigmore Presents, the BCAM Conference and Aesthetic Medicine North, and a poster presentation at AMWC in Monaco.
The plan starts with how your forehead moves. In clinic, he assesses how your forehead and brows move together, then chooses the dose and injection placement around what he sees and what you want.
He'll explain why a lighter treatment might suit you, why the frown area may need including, or why more toxin won't solve a particular crease. These choices help shape the treatment around your face and the result you'd like to achieve.
You see him for the consultation, the injections and any review. There's no need to explain your preferences again to a different person halfway through.

Making an informed choice
What side effects should you know about?
You may have small bumps, redness, tenderness or a bruise where you've been injected. A headache can also happen.
Possible side effects
A heavy brow, uneven result or eyelid droop is possible. These effects usually improve as the treatment wears off, but there isn't a dissolving treatment to make botulinum toxin stop working immediately.
Dr Alex checks your brow position and whether your forehead is doing extra work to hold it up. He uses that assessment to judge what treatment is sensible. If you notice an unexpected change afterwards, contact SONÜ for advice.
When to get urgent medical help
Very rarely, effects can occur in muscles away from the treated area. Seek urgent medical help if you develop widespread weakness or difficulty breathing, speaking or swallowing after treatment.
Who shouldn't have forehead Botox?
SONÜ does not treat anyone under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding. If you're unwell or have an infection near the treatment area, you'll need to wait.
Certain health conditions, allergies, medicines and recent toxin treatment can make it unsuitable too. Tell Dr Alex about these, and if you're trying to conceive, so he can advise you.
You're welcome to have the conversation and leave the treatment for another day.
Treatment costs
What will your forehead treatment cost?
Forehead treatment counts as one area and costs £200. Forehead and frown lines together count as two areas and cost £280. Three areas cost £350 and four £430. Dr Alex will confirm your plan before treatment.
