Assessment with Dr Alex at SONÜ, Hale, Altrincham.
What have you noticed?
The creases that run across your neck
You don't need to know why a line has formed before asking about it. Showing us the area is enough.
Before you book
Necklace Lines Botox at a glance
Small Botox injections to soften mild horizontal neck lines, with a gradual result and usually little downtime.
The change to look for
Softer creases across your neck
The aim is smoother-looking skin across your neck, with less emphasis on the lines that catch your eye.
For suitable mild necklace lines, Botox can make the creases look softer and less noticeable. The change develops gradually, while your neck keeps its natural shape.
The improvement is usually subtle. A deeper groove may respond better to a treatment that supports the skin, such as necklace-line filler. Dr Alex will show you which type of line you have and explain the option most likely to give you the smoother look you're after.
✓
Botox does not remove excess skin or fill a crease.
Would it suit you?
The type of line helps guide the choice
The depth of your lines and the quality of your skin help Dr Alex recommend the most suitable way to soften them.
Choosing between treatments
You don't have to choose the injection first
If you're unsure whether you need Botox, filler or a skin treatment, book a consultation about the lines themselves. Dr Alex can explain the differences using your neck as the starting point. Leaving the area untreated is also an option.
How Botox works
Reducing muscle activity without filling the line
Botulinum toxin temporarily reduces activity in the muscles it reaches.
For horizontal neck lines, small injections are used to reduce the contribution of superficial muscle activity. That may soften the appearance of a crease, but it cannot replace support beneath a deep groove.
Filler works differently by adding material beneath or within the skin. The two treatments therefore aren't interchangeable, even when both are discussed for the same line.

Why Dr Alex
Toxin experience, with the right treatment for your lines
Dr Alex's professional work includes teaching botulinum toxin treatments to other medical professionals. He is an international Key Opinion Leader and Advocate for Evolus, a company supplying toxin treatments.
For necklace lines, choosing whether to use Botox is as important as carrying out the injections. Your assessment considers how deep the creases are, what happens when your neck moves and whether the skin itself needs a different approach.
You can ask why a particular treatment is being suggested and what would make Dr Alex advise against it.

Safety and recovery
What to know before neck injections
Small injection marks, tenderness, swelling and bruising can occur. We will discuss the risks relevant to your proposed treatment before you decide.
Possible side effects
Unwanted weakness can affect nearby muscles. In the neck, this can cause problems with movement, swallowing or voice. Allergic reactions are also possible.
Tell Dr Alex about any swallowing or breathing problems, muscle or nerve conditions, previous reactions to botulinum toxin and medicines you take. Mention any recent toxin treatment elsewhere, even if it was for a different reason.
When to get urgent help
Seek urgent medical help if you develop difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing after treatment. For severe breathing difficulty, call 999.
When treatment should wait or be avoided
Botulinum toxin is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an infection at the injection site, or for some muscle and nerve conditions. A previous allergic reaction to the product also needs to be considered. Your medical assessment may identify other reasons to avoid treatment.
You can take time to think before deciding.
Treatment costs
Agree the treatment and fee first
Botox for horizontal neck lines costs £200 or £280, equivalent to one or two Botox areas. The fee depends on the number of lines and the area to cover.
