Hollow temples
Temple filler in Hale, Altrincham
Temple filler can soften the hollows beside your eyes, helping your face look less gaunt and restoring a smoother outline from your forehead to your cheekbones.

What you've noticed
A hollow that changes the outline of your face
The inward curve at your temples can change how the whole upper face looks, from its outline to the shadows beside your eyes.
The practical details
Temple filler at a glance
The aim is a visible improvement in the hollow, with the amount of change agreed after Dr Alex has examined you.
The change you can see
Less hollow at the sides, less drawn overall
Restoring the temple contour can soften the sunken appearance beside the eyes and make the outline of the upper face look smoother.
The sides of your forehead can look less sunken, with softer shadows and a smoother curve around the outer eyes. Restoring support here can also help the tail of the brow appear slightly lifted.
How much to restore depends on the face you have and the shape you like. You may want to regain a contour you've lost over time, or soften temples that have always been quite hollow. Dr Alex will discuss how that could affect the width and overall shape of your upper face.
You don't have to aim for completely flat temples. A gentle curve may suit your face better than filling every last dip.

Is a temple hollow what you want to change?
Temple filler is most relevant when an indentation at the side of your forehead is contributing to the appearance you dislike.
Hollows and lifting
Temple filler isn't a facelift
Temple filler can restore contour and give some support to the outer brow. It doesn't remove excess eyelid skin or provide the lift of surgery for significant sagging.
If loose skin or a markedly drooping brow is your main concern, Dr Alex will explain what temple treatment could contribute and whether another approach would achieve more.
How it works
Restoring the support at the sides of your face
Hyaluronic acid filler replaces volume beneath a hollow temple, supporting the overlying tissue so the indentation becomes shallower.
As the temples lose volume, the sides of the forehead can dip inwards and the bony outline around the outer eyes can become more visible. The deeper hollow also casts a stronger shadow, adding to that sunken appearance.
Filler restores some of the missing volume, smoothing the curve from the forehead towards the side of the face. This can soften the skeletal look while preserving definition in the surrounding features.
Support in this area can also help the outer end of the eyebrow - the brow tail - appear a little higher. Dr Alex considers both the hollow and the position of the brow when assessing the result treatment could give you.

Show Dr Alex the change you've noticed
He can assess your temples in person. You don't need to arrive knowing the product, technique or amount of filler you want.

Why Dr Alex
Why choose Dr Alex for temple filler?
Dr Alex teaches doctors, dentists and nurses across several dermal filler ranges. He is currently a trainer for Evolus's Estyme range and has helped launch Estyme and Aliaxin LV in the UK.
For your temples, the recommendation starts with what restoring the hollow would do to your face. More width may appeal to one person and be exactly what another wants to avoid. He'll assess your own contours and explain the shape he would aim to achieve.
If you've had filler before, he'll assess what's already there before recommending more. A treatment date on the calendar doesn't, by itself, mean the area needs topping up.

Side effects and suitability
What should you know about temple filler?
Temporary tenderness, bruising and swelling can occur around the treated area.
Possible side effects
Lumps, unevenness, infection or delayed inflammation can develop. The temples contain important blood vessels and nerves, so this area needs a practitioner familiar with its anatomy.
A blocked blood vessel is an uncommon but serious filler complication. It can damage skin and, very rarely, affect sight permanently. Technique and experience do not remove that risk.
When to seek urgent help
Get urgent medical advice for unusual or increasing pain, or skin becoming pale, dusky or mottled. Contact SONÜ immediately; seek urgent care if you cannot reach the clinic. Any change in vision, sudden weakness or trouble speaking requires emergency help - call 999 and mention the filler treatment.
When treatment may need to wait
An infection or inflamed skin in the area needs to settle before treatment. Tell Dr Alex about pregnancy or breastfeeding, allergies, medicines, previous filler reactions and any relevant health condition so he can advise on suitability.
You can ask questions and take time to decide before having treatment.
